Sizwe Tropical Disease Hospital is seeking to appoint nine (9) qualified and motivated Staff Nurses to join its professional Nursing Services team. Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
- A two-year Enrolled Nurse qualification, which allows for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse.
- Registration with SANC must be up to date and valid at the time of application.
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment will be advantageous.
- Good communication and basic writing skills are essential.
- Applicants must be able to work effectively in a team, follow instructions, and have strong interpersonal skills.
- Sound knowledge of basic nursing care, infection prevention and control measures, quality assurance standards, and legal frameworks governing nursing in South Africa.
- A compassionate and caring attitude is key to providing patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care within a multidisciplinary health team. Duties will include:
- Delivering safe and effective clinical nursing care under the supervision of a professional nurse or unit manager.
- Ensuring that all nursing care is in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and National Core Standards, including the Ideal Hospital Realisation Framework.
- Participating in the implementation and evaluation of quality assurance programmes.
- Supporting infection prevention and control measures to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Assisting with patient observation, administration of prescribed treatments, and maintaining accurate patient records.
- Communicating effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
- Using hospital resources responsibly and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Promoting ongoing learning, professional growth, and ethical nursing practice.
This position requires someone who is passionate about nursing and who can function effectively under pressure in a busy hospital environment. The ability to adapt and maintain professionalism at all times is essential.
